After the articles about how and why you should level up on Steam, we would like to tell you about one of the unique opportunities that opens after level 10.
How to create a beautiful Steam profile in 2022?
Steam Item ShowcaseThe easiest way to decorate your Steam profile in a simple way is to post there your collections, screenshots, achievements, etc.
If you want to do this, you need to log into your profile and click:
«Edit profile» → Showcases → Select the type of showcase → Place the desired items → Save
This is the simplest way, so you don’t really have too much room for imagination here. If you want more, you have to try a little.
Showcase with animationNow let's take a look at a more complex method, but with a more impressive result.
First, you need to work out whether you’ll make the illustration yourself or will download it ready-made from the web? For the second way, you don’t need to do any complex operations. You need to download the gif, the pic or any other thing you’d like.
Then open the browser → Go to your Steam profile → Illustrations → Upload an illustration
Before saving the illustration, open the panel with the website's tools (for example, in Google Chrome, it’s the F12 button), go to the Console section and put in the following command:
This command will allow your picture not to go flat
Press Enter, close the console and click «Save»
Done! Now, according to the same principle as with the showcase of items, in the profile editor we add it through the section «Showcase of illustrations»
Ready-made profile animations can also be downloaded from a number of websites on the Internet. As a rule, they have a link attached to let you purchase the corresponding profile background on Steam on the marketplace.
Self-made animation with backgroundNow, let's choose a more difficult path. If you’ve decided to make your own illustration, you will have to work with that a little longer.
Let's first deal with the background. Select the one you would like to see on your Steam profile. You can choose from the ones you already have or buy from the Steam marketplace.
Also, you can get backgrounds for crafting badges from games, cards for which you can get when buying a level on our website.
Done selecting? Now go into your inventory, click on the desired background and select «Show in full size» in the right menu. It will open in your browser.
Now press RMB and «Copy URL/image address»
Then go to the steam.design website and paste the address of our background there and click «Download ZIP»
Thanks to the website, we have a clipping of certain zones of our background, on which we will work with animation later on.
Now let’s create some magic and beauty.
Images and animation
Here comes the moment to work your miracles. On our behalf, we can recommend the gifmaker website with quite a wide selection of animations, emojis and text editors.
In order to work with it, you will first need to sign up on the gifmaker website. Don’t worry, it only takes a few seconds.
In order to start working there, take a file called Artwork_Middle.png from the archive downloaded from steam.design and insert it on the site
After you’ve done everything you want, save the file in the gif format.
Animation for our profile is ready!
We have discussed only one way that you can use animation on an image. Actually, it all depends on your imagination and where it takes you.
If you know how to use Adobe Photoshop or Adobe After Effects, then go for it! Everything’s in your hands! There are also carious tutorials on the Internet for working with these apps, so you can do it.
Placing animation in your steam profile
After your miracle creation is ready:

Before saving the illustration, open the panel with the website's tools(for example, in Google Chrome, it’s the F12 button), go to the Console section and put in the following command:
document.getElementsByName("image_width").value = 999999;document.getElementsByName("image_height").value = 1;
Press Enter, close the console and click “Save”
Do the same operation with the Artwork_Right_Top.png file from the same initial archive.
